Laipac UV-40 16 Channel miniature GPS receiver is one of the smallest on the market (25 x 36 x 7mm)). The small size does not compromise it’s performance at all, the UV40 still offers superior performance to other modules on the market. The UV-40’s compact size allows it to operate at 3.3v therefore requiring very little power for operation. It has an option for 2 built in LNA’s giving the user the option to use it with an active or passive antenna. This is a significant advantage for embedded applications where low-power operation and small size is of the utmost importance.
The UV-40 has an NMEA 0183 output at a 4800bps baud rate and also offers the more compact Sony binary format. It has all the standard software features like: two satellite measurement, all in view navigation,
and differential corrections. It takes only 35 - 60 seconds for its first fix on a cold start and only 7 - 20 seconds off a hot start with a current almanac.
